Homosexuality

Starting Points

We want you to know we recommend a multi-faceted approach to growing in the areas of identity and sexual orientation. The first and most important step is surrendering your life to Jesus and committing your sexuality to Him. Here are your two most important resources first:

Further Resources

There are amazing ministries that have been developed to help people walk through this challenging area of life. Here are two we highly recommend:

  1. Loveandtruthnetwork.com | This ministry offers one free hour of confidential coaching to help you biblically navigate next steps in your healing journey. It has resources for individuals and for family & friends who are wanting to know how best to walk through this area of sexual identity with their loved ones. There are also several book recommendations available on this website.
  2. Changedmovement.com | Among many things, this ministry offers a glimpse into the lives and stories of those who have walked through their own journey in this area. From their site: “…You’ll be able to read the vulnerable, authentic, and sometimes raw accounts of the hope and prosperity all of our journeys offered as we questioned our sexuality and gender identity.”

We recommend, as you consider each ministry and the books, videos, blog posts, etc. they offer, ask the Holy Spirit to highlight which resources He is inviting you to engage with.

Next Steps

We believe God can and will use all of the above resources to help you on your journey. But we also believe Christian counseling is often an effective next step for people who are seeking God for a breakthrough. One local organization we recommend that has a number of counselors available can be found at agaperoc.org.

We’re excited for you to grow in your friendship with Jesus and to become healthier and healthier in your sexuality and sexual identity. We hope and pray these resources will be a blessing to you! If you would like to talk with one of the ELC pastors directly, please text 585-204-2261 with the key words “more help” and we’ll have a pastor reach out to your number.
